Verse link: Philippians 2:3 – Don’t be selfish … Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.
The Point: God’s love isn’t selfish
Bible story: The life of Tabitha
During the week ask your child if they can remember The Point or the Verse from Sunday’s lesson.
Ask these questions:
- How do you think putting others first shows God’s love for them?
- When you think about Tabitha from the Bible, was she selfish? What did she do to help others?
- What does it mean to “walk a mile in someone else’s shoes”?
Have your family members each grab a pair of shoes (any shoes). Put the shoes in a black bag and have each member of the family pull out a pair. Now put the shoes on and walk from one side of the room to the other.
How does that feel? Grab another pair maybe – heels, boots, slippers – and play again.
Song of the week: The Golden Rule – Group Publishing
Jesus, thank You that you love us so much and that your love is not selfish. Help me to say no to selfishness and put myself first. Help me say yes to loving others and helping them the way you do. [Add thanks and prayer requests for others.]
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
